The Sweet 16 field is set and in the process a little history occurred. Here are some interesting facts now that the opening weekend is over.

— After the first two days only one bracket out of 11.57 million on ESPN remained perfect.

— Only 14 of those brackets on ESPN correctly picked the Sweet 16.

— The ACC has five teams in the Sweet 16, tying the record for most by a conference (Big East had five in 2009).

— This is the first time since 1998 that Kentucky, Duke, North Carolina and UCLA all reached the Sweet 16.

— Fourteen of the Sweet 16 teams were ranked in the selection committee’s top 26 overall seeds.

— Michigan State has been to the Sweet 16 in 13 of the last 18 seasons.

— Arizona coach Sean Miller is 13-1 all-time as the better seed in the tournament, which is best among coaches to appear in at least 10 such games.

— Kentucky became the first DI men’s basketball team to start a season 36-0.

— CBS Sports and Turner Sports recorded a 6.7/14 overnight rating/share for the best rating for the tournament through the first Sunday.

— Higher-seeded teams were 15-1 on Friday, just the second time in NCAA Tournament history that has happened in a single day in the Round of 64.

— Vegas favorites went on a 25-game winning streak from Thursday night into Friday, setting a record.

— Lon Kruger’s win with Oklahoma gave him a victory in an NCAA Tournament game with a record five different schools.

— Kruger also became the first coach to lead a fourth different team to the Sweet 16 (Oklahoma, Florida, Kansas State, UNLV).

— For the first time in NCAA Tournament history, five games were decided by one point in one day (Thursday).

— First year since 2002 that a No. 9 seed didn’t beat a No. 8 seed.

— First year since 2007 that a No. 12 seed didn’t upset a No. 5 seed.

— Texas had five teams in the tournament (Baylor, Texas, SMU, Texas Southern, Stephen F. Austin) and came away with zero wins, setting a record for most losses by a state in a single day of the tourney.

— Iowa’s 83-52 defeat of Davidson is the most lopsided 7/10 game in NCAA Tournament history.

— Midwest top seeds went 8-0 after the first two days, the first time that has happened since 2012 in any region.

— Only the third time in NCAA history where multiple 14-seeded teams beat No. 3 seeds in the same year (1995, 1986).

— 96 percent of Yahoo bracket submissions had Iowa State beating UAB.
